Do law schools frown on young students?

by Mind Movies on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

I completed two years of college work during high school and am thinking about going to law school. If I graduate in two years and apply as a 20 year old, would that hurt my chances of admission? Some people are telling me to double major and relax for four years, and that they frown on younger students. Is this true, or is age irrelevant to both admissions and success in law school?

Age is not the problem. I applied to law schools when I was a twenty-year-old college senior after having graduated a year early from high school. I was admitted to several law schools, including one in the top ten, from which I graduated in due course.

A problem may be that two years of work actually taken in college may not give you enough of an advantage in scoring highly on the LSAT in comparison to students who have been full time students on a college campus for four years.

What are the steps to take to file law suit against a harrassing boss who also retaliates? 0 success w/mtg?

by Mind Movies on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I have a boss who dislikes me. She sends nasty emails to me. Harrassed me at home via email while out sick saying that I sure played my sickness of well at the office even though I had a doctors note. In one meeting she finally had with me she told me that I better not contact HR anymore (HR Mgr breached my trust when I contacted her for advice) and my mgr also mentioned that she knows about my answers to the supposed private, mandatory surveys we are required to fill out. Also lied and stated that 75% of our group has a problem with me which is not true. Boss is in tight with HR Mgr so I’m going to the Global HR Mgr but also getting ill dealing with the daily harrassment and need to come up with a quick resolution. Suggested meeting with her several times and she did respond but when she finally met with me which did not go well at all. I didn’t argue but took note. When I mentioned I felt harrassed she demanded that I never use that word again in her dept. Any advice?
I don’t feel like the harrassment is based on gender or race. I feel it is based on the manipulations of another co-worker as this mgr is a new one. The old one was fired due to poor mgmt. The dept is quite messy and pushing to gain points at attempts to discredit the better worker, myself. The first area I found a prob was when I requested for a day off for a religious convention. I was denied unless I could find someone to "cover my shift" and she didn’t want more than 2 people off. The following week she allowed 3 people to be off. Secondly when I brought it to her attn that my assigned assistant wasn’t following up with her assigned duties I was told that I remind her of her 5 year old child by tattle telling. Next I was given additional duties whereas others are allowed to surf the internet and do close to nothing job-wise. When I asked for training for the new responsibilities, I was told to get with my peers whom she has used as her net to make derogatory comments vs me.
The most recent harrassment was via email when I was told by my mgr that even though she does not have a written dress code, she does not allow warm up suits, etc. 2 other people in the dept were wearing the same but did not rcv this email. In addition there was a small altercation with a co-worker via email in which she attempted to twist the subject matter of work (a phone call to a client that I hadn’t been able to return as quickly as the co-worker wanted me to) The co-worker posted a negative comment on the account indicating that I didnt follow through but that the situation was handled. I told her via email that her comments were ridiculous and that the work relationship between the 2 combined locations was unhealthy & that it prob be good if it were consolidated to one. Her comment was that I threatened her and she took it to my mgr who emailed me to recap the events and of course copied her HR buddy on this req. I haven’t heard anything back because it wasnt justified
I cannot change jobs at this time because I am in the process of purchasing a home and the job market in Georgia is not fruitful at this time.

THIS IS A TRUE HARASSMENT CASE
1. COLLECT E MAILS AT HOME
2. COLLECT E MAILS AT WORK
3. GET OTHER EMPLOYEES TO VERIFY ACTIONS-BOSS HAS HAD WITH THEM-CLASS ACTION SUIT
4. HR LETTER AND COMPLAINT AND RESOLVE IF ANY
5. RETALIATION IS NOT AN OPTION A BOSS SHOULD USE OR CAN USE LEGALLY
6. UNDER NEW FEDERAL LAWS A DOCORS EXCUSE FOR AILMENT IS NOT NEEDED JUST THAT YOU WENT TO SAID DOCTOR-VIOLATES MEDICAL LIABILITY ACT-EMPLOYER DOES NOT HAVE RIGHT TO KNOW WHY YOU WENT TO DOCTOR-CONFIDENTIAL DOCTOR CLIENT LIKE PRIEST AND CLIENT
7. FILE WITH NEXT STEP PERSON AND ALSO WITH EEOC IN YOUR TOWN SAME COMPLAINT
8. IF FOUND GUILTY YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO SUE COMPANY FOR ALLOWING HER TO OPERATE AS A BOSS AND CAUSE–HARASSMENT, ALLEGATIONS UNFOUNDED,RIGHTS VIOLATIONS, HOSTILE WORKING ENVIORNMENT ETC–YOU HAVE 180 DAYS TO FILE FROM DATE OF ALLEGATION TO EEOC DO NOT LOSE YOUR TIME FRAME–INFORMATION YOU GAVE ABOUT CO AND BOSS BY IN HOUSE SURVEY CANNOT BE SHARED BY HR PERSON-MATERIAL IS PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL-IF YOU HAD TO PUT YOUR NAME ON IT THEN REFUSE TO TAKE SURVEY-SENIOR HR WOULD BE GLAD TO GET THIS MATERIL I AM SURE-THIS IS NOT A GOOD HR MANAGEMENT TOOL TO ALLOW OTHERS TO PRAY ON OTHERS BECAUSE YOU SAID WHAT YOU DID IN CONFIDENTIALLITY-THAT WAS THEN BROKEN BY HR WHOM YOU TRUSTED- –GOOD LUCK–EEOC WILL TAKE CASE TO COURT IF REAL ISSUES EXIST IF NOT GET ACLU TO DO A CASE WHEN EEOC RENDERS A DECISION IN YOUR FAVOR OR YOUR FAVORITE LAWYER FOR SETTLEMENT–THE COMPANY WILL TRY TO SETTLE OUT OF COURT OR DISCREDIT YOU THIS IS WHY IF OTHERS IN OFFICE STAND UP COMPANY WILL FIRE HER OR MOVE HER TO ANOTHER JURISDICTION

Does graduating w/ Law degree almost guaruantee success?

by Mind Movies on Friday, June 25th, 2010

And… on average, how much do new grads of law school expect to make in the bigger cities along the west or east coast?
misspelled "guarantee" in title… whoops

It solely depends on whether or not you can get into a company which is a high roller. You will make little, meaning under 100 gs a year and struggle without connections, the right law school attended, the right politics and making the right connections. Also, certain types of law pay little. Divorce law can be lucrative as well as working for a fortune 500 company and playing ball with them,…I know a divorce lawyer who gets 350 an hour and is always busy. Figure 400-500 gs a year.

Given the success of Arizona immigration law, why do we not force Jews to wear yellow stars for identification?

by Mind Movies on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

It would help us identify the sheer number of Jews that have infiltrated government and academia.

irony doesn’t seem to play well here.

Would an attorney seeking to have a solo practice in criminal and family law have more success…?

by Mind Movies on Thursday, May 27th, 2010

In California or Texas? I live in Texas; however, I’m seriously thinking about law school and when I finish I’d like to live in California, having said that I know how expensive the cost of living is there and feel that I could perhaps make more money there as a criminal/family attorney. Texas is nice and cheap but it is also boring with nothing to really do except enjoy the country side and since I have small children it has become a problem keeping them entertained, besides it is really hard to break into Texas professionally if one is not from her originally.

family law is probably, unfortunately, becoming the more lucrative area of law mind you criminal law is also becoming popular.
